This week’s unknowns take us down to the old Craig Waterfront. If you’ve worked on Boxwell Staff over the last 20 years, you only know the Waterfront as being on Duck Head. Originally though, the waterfront was in the small bay directly down from the Dining Hall. It is on the docks of this waterfront that this particular photo was taken.
We don’t know much about this one. We know it was the Craig Waterfront in 1982, but we don’t know for sure who took it or who the people are. Any names will help!

That is amazing to think that it has been 20 years since we moved those waterfronts!! I started on the one in front of the dining hall (2 years), then to Parnell. Before the return to Craig, Kerry Parker and I did the layout for the new one, some of the site work (I filled the beach during staff week moving sand from close to the road using a bobcat skip track, something I’d never been in before that moment), and then of course the rest of the staff helped put up the other structures. Oh yes, we built the boat house as well – I think Kerry led that too. I actually drew the plans up in Autocad 13 (I worked in Jackson, TN the previous year as an engineering intern), and still have a couple printed sets rolled up in storage!
Oh, as always, you can tell which staff is flexing and which ones don’t care. 🙂
First from left- Dave Mann Third from left- The one and only…… Jerry Barnett
The rest unknown to me ’82 was my first year as a camper I remember the second guy from the left helping me Monday morning right after breakfast to try to strengthen my back float so I could get my buddy chip filled in Who would have known then that I would go on to be one of ” Jerry’s kids ” three years later
Seriously? Jerry on the waterfront? That seems almost impossible!
