Boxwell Reservation, 1973

While the economic climate was not nearly as rosy by 1973, not THAT much had changed by 1973. Ward Akers was still Council Executive. Ed Human was now Reservation Director. Gladys Roberts ran Murrey with Kathy Howard on the Waterfront. At Stahlman, Garland Russell was Program Director with Andy Russell (unrelated we believe) as his Camp Director (still a professional). Steve Eubank ran Parnell (his first as Program Director) with former-staff-member-now-briefly-professional Charlie Ray Smith as Camp Director. The Ski Dock was run by Bobby Parker. Pearl Schleicher was on board as Reservation Cook and Bobby Smith was still Ranger.

The one interesting difference was that the 1972 Capital Campaign was now over and construction was under way. In June of 1973, Camp Craig opened for one week of Scouts from the Heart of Tennessee (Murfreesboro) district.

There are no staff photos for any of these staffs, but we do have a patch from that inaugural week at Camp Craig in 1973.
