Boxwell Reservation, 1964

After looking at the previous Boxwells last week, this week we turn our attention to the Boxwell Reservations staffs of 1964. Ward Akers was Council Executive and James “Foxy” Johnson was Reservation Director (his last summer in the role). Chester LaFever continued his run as Program Director at Stahlman and the Camp Director (a District Executive then) was Ronald Oakes. Camp Parnell was led by Program Director Jimmy Joe Jackson and Camp Director Bruce Atkins. The Ski Dock was run by James W. Doran, Jr. and Camp Murrey by Elizabeth Jackson, Jimmy Joe’s wife. Coleman Wright was the Ranger.

1964 was also the year the Don Stanford Chapel was added to the reservation on the backside of what was then Camp Light.
