The VirtualBoxwell Team is sad to report the passing of James D. Spurlock. James was a staff member on the Parnell staff  in 1972.  We believe he worked in 1973 as well, though we are not certain where.  His 1972 summer was spent working camp First Aid, which used to be run in each camp individually before the arrival of the Health Lodge.

Unfortunately, we know virtually nothing about James’ life after camp. He passed in 2005 at approximately 48 years of age, outlived by own mother. As we update our rolls ahead of the 2026 reunion, we just discovered this.

There is no online obituary we can post. There is also no photo of the 1972 Parnell staff.  However, we do have a photo of the Parnell Commissary from 1972, which we present here.
