The VirtualBoxwell Team is sad to report the passing of Philip Evans Smith. Philip was a staff member of the Boxwell staff in 1974 and 1975. For his 1974 summer, he worked at the Crippled Crab. We are uncertain of his position in 1975.
After camp, Philip was a busy man. He graduated from the UT College of Law in 1988 and then went to work in the Twentieth Judicial District, specifically in the Child Support Enforcement Division. From 1990 into 2009, he was part of a private law firm, practicing in family law matters, including divorce and custody cases. In March 2009, he was appointed as Judge of the Fourth Circuit Court in Davidson County and re-elected to this seat in 2010 and 2014. In 2022, he was elected as Judge over the Twentieth Judicial District. When he passed in September 4, 2022 at 62, he was survived by his wife Pam (39 years of marriage) and his two daughters and three grandchildren.
