The view from above continues!

We take closer look at Boxwell from above this week with two photos.  Starting at the back corner of the reservation, we will spend the next few weeks making our way around the reservation, looking at the different camps from an aerial perspective.

The first photo is of Cubworld, formerly Camp Murrey.  Murrey folks will recognize the dining hall (now renovated) and the swimming area.  However, they will likely be a little baffled by the large building next to the dining hall and what appear to be two pirate ships in the swimming area!  People familiar with CubWorld will recognize the large building as Showerhouse One and the swimming area as Pirates Cove.  And yes, those are Pirate Ships, though neither boat floats on the water anymore.

The second photo is the Boat Harbor, formerly known as the Ski Dock.  The Boat Harbor was an original component of Boxwell in 1960, but was closed in 1976.  It was reopened after the 1994 Capital Development Campaign.  You’ll note that unlike Boxwell of just 15 years ago (maybe 20!), the docks are now permanent. You might also notice, just inside the woods by the peninsula, is the relatively new Boat Harbor Program shed.

Next up… Camp Stahlman.
