Boxwell: Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow
The 2000 Summer Camp Promotional video was the first after the 1994 Capital Campaign was completed and the first of the “modern era.” The new sign is shown prominently in the first few moments and the film captures moments of “old” Boxwell (rocket launches, swimming, and knot tying) and matches them with newer program (Boat Harbor programs, Davy Crockett, and Mountain Man). The narration is even a mix of “old and new” as 1960s camper and staff member John Cyril Stewart is joined by newer staff Clay Capp and Marcus Lucas.
The film has bits and pieces from 1997-1999 included. In most scenes, it is difficult to tell which year, but every now and then you catch a glimpse of a staff hat and that is the tell tale sign. (If you want to figure out which year for which hat, visit our Staff Hat Project page: http://www.virtualboxwell.org/spex_staf_hat.php).
The audio sync is a little off on the video, but it still works for the most part. You can figure out what’s going on and who is speaking without too much trouble. The video was shot and assembly by the Wa-Hi-Nasa Lodge.
